Mary Desaulniers
I am a retired teacher and grandmother looking forward to the next 30 or more years with great relish and enthusiasm. My passions are writing and running. I have been pursuing both for over 30 years and see both as avenues to self-knowledge and balance. Writing allows me to be a child once more--on her first day at school. Running connects me to the invisible so that I am not swallowed up by the visible. And my grand-children keep me safely ensconced in the world of magic and miracles.
What more can I ask for?
I have published articles and stories in Grain, Nineteenth Century Literature, The London Magazine and various online publications. I have a Ph.D in Nineteenth Century Literature and have published a book on Thomas Carlyle with McGill-Queen's University Press.
My most recent publication is written under a pen name.
What can I say about being a Suite101 writer?
It's an honor, to be sure, and an adventure!
